Looking Fly on the Fly

We are all busy these days, in fact the current trend for responding to “How are you?” is “Busy”. But just because we are “busy” doesn’t mean that we need to forget about our appearance. Here are some quick and easy tips to help you look great whether you have 1 minute or ten.

Rápido Skin-Care Tricks:

Wash Wisely

Use a cream, versus gel cleanser, at night. The oil in the cream cleanser will dissolve dirt, sunscreen, waterproof mascara and long-wearing lipstick, in one pass. Not to mention, creams leave skin more moisturized, which is great while you sleep.

Streamline Your Creams

Instead of using a moisturizer, a sunscreen and a foundation try using a tinted moisturizer, which will moisturize, unify, tone and protect at the same time.

Make Your Own Facial

Facials are so good for the skin. They can improve the tone & texture of the skin and give you a healthy glow. If you “too busy” even book a facial mix some flour with a couple of egg whites and smooth onto your skin. Leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse. Your pores will be tightened and your face refreshed, in no time!

¡Ojo¡

Tus ojos (your eyes) are the focal point of your face, so don’t forget to play them up. For a quick pop spread a pale shade of a shimmery shadow onto your lids and create contrast with black mascara.

Brows, Ladies

If your eyebrows are groom then you look polished. In order to look super pulled together, (whether you are or not), make it to a salon for a professional brow shaping once a season and maintain the shape, as needed, at home.

Add a Pop of Color
Give your lips and cheeks a pop, with the same color. All you need is a red or pink lipstick, which you can use on both the lips AND the mouth. And remember to K.I.S.S-

Shield Yourself From Colds and Flu With Interval Training

Submitted by on - 7:02 pm

Interval training – short, high-energy bursts of exercise interspersed with lower-intensity exercise – is fun and has loads of benefits. In addition to adding variety to your workout it also gets your endorphins flowing more quickly, which leaves you feeling amazing for the rest of the day. You burn more calories. Climbing hills (and stairs) is easier. You have better endurance, which makes you stronger and faster in every other form of cardiovascular activity. Interval training – due to its intense qualities – yields a heightened immune response. In fact, people who exercise regularly build-up their immune system by creating a “shield” against colds and flu. Another great benefit of interval training (and exercise, in general) is that you get younger. Yes, really. The benefits of exercise are profound and impact all aspects of your life. You sleep better. You wake up more refreshed. Your skin glows. Your digestion improves. Your attitude throughout the day becomes consistently positive. You have more ideas. You’re more creative. Overall, you’re healthy and well and more fun to be around.
The best part is that you can have all of this in as little as 30 minutes a day!  For groovin’ Latin musical inspiration Click Here to purchase my Cardio Latino Interval Training Workout.

Off to “The Happy Valley”!

Submitted by on August 1, 2010 - 3:30 pm

My son and I are off to “The Happy Valley” (the Pioneer Valley, in Western Massachusetts) this week. I really can’t wait to go. It’ll be a week filled with family fun. My brother, (in photo above), sister-in-law, nephew and my parents will be there. Not to mention that a few of my high school friends will be around. And I am really excited because I am going to have tea with a fellow La Buena Life member and blogger, Carrie (http://bit.ly/CarrieWrites). It’ll be a great week!

I hope that you are all taking some time out to enjoy with your families this summer.
What are your special plans?
