5 Simple Ways to Create More Balance in Your Life

As busy professionals, entrepreneurs and super moms, we are all trying to enjoy our lives and live them on our own terms.  We want to be the best that we can with those that we interact but we can only do that if we are also good to ourselves.  Here are 5 simple ways to create more balance in your life, so that you can be the best version of yourself, for yourself and for others.

Release Some of Your Work Load – Allow yourself permission to outsource some of life’s tasks that either you don’t enjoy, or you just aren’t particularly good at.  (Let’s be honest here.  We are not all good at everything).  This could be work tasks, or even housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, etc.

Self-Assess – Take a look at where you spend your time and energy.  Make two lists.  On the first one write what you are good at and love doing.  On the second one write what you are not as good at or don’t enjoy doing.  Prioritize items on the first list, (don’t try to do them all at once), and delegate items on the second list to someone else to do.

Journal Daily – Writing down your thoughts first thing every morning is a great way to start your day.  This in not structured writing.  It’s just a stream of consciousness, (3 pages being the goal).  You might write your “to do” list or maybe you write a revelation that you had.  It doesn’t matter what you write.  The idea is to clear your head of the clutter and start your day fresh, energized and optimistic about what it holds.

Take a “Time Out” – No you haven’t been bad, but you may feel badly if you don’t take time out.  Give yourself a 5 minute “refresher” each day.  This can be as simple as lying on the floor, with your knees bent, feet on the floor and a cloth over your eyes, (to block out light and relax your eyes).  Take a few deep breaths and relax por cinco minutos.

Plan Fun – Schedule yourself back into your life.  Plan a date night, family time, friend time or a spa day.  Take an art class, ride a horse, do what moves YOU!  This will not only help you find balance in your life it’ll also fuel your creativity and give you more energy to share with others.
