My husband and I are trying to lose weight. We’ve started by using the smaller dessert/salad plates instead of the standard dinner plates in our home… but truthfully they’re just a little too small. These slimware plates seem like a great solution!

I agree that salad plates are a tease. Slimware plates are beautiful and don’t make you feel as if you’re depriving yourself.

My doctor told my mother that she HAS to lose weight and she’s trying, but struggling. She is at a high risk of developing Diabetes. She’s having some success because she drastically cut her sugar intake and walks every morning, but now she needs to work on portion control. She told me this the other day, in fact. Her 65th birthday is November 30. I’d love to give her these plates as either a birthday or Christmas gift. I was laid off almost 2 years ago and I can’t afford to give her many nice gifts this year. She would go nuts over how pretty the plates are, and knowing they’ll help with portion control makes them even more appealing.

Yes Kelly. These plates are too cool! How sweet of you to think of your mother.

I just cannot control , always feel it’sNiou that much, my dish looks tiny but actually can contain a lot;-)I tried to use the scale to measure , but too much work for me, gave up after some days. I really need something which can measure the amount, but also easy to do that;-)The slimware looks so cute
btw, 11/17 is my birthday;-) thanks for sharing

Oooh, I’m drooling over the plates. What a cool idea! In today’s world, who DOESN’T need help learning about and practicing portion control? I checked out the link in your post and saw how the plates actually work. I’m really impressed and would love to be entered to win. Thanks, Ana!

Hello Ana, from beautiful Cape Cod, where we have the same portion control issues as the rest of the world! Now that I’m over 40, I’ve been struggling to make the necessary changes to diet and exercise my evolving body requires. I would love to try these plates!
Oh, and a side note, this concept should be rolled out into school systems from Kindergarten on! Call Jamie Oliver!
    Love you!

Hi Ana, This is such a great idea and so easy to use! Portion control has always been my challenge. I recently retired and the first thing I did was started eating healthier and doing cardio and Pilates on a regular basis. Since August, I’ve lost 20 pounds. I’m 5’2″ and I now weigh 135 so I’m finally (just barely!) in the normal weight range for my height. But I still want to lose a few more pounds. Your slimware is such a perfect way to ensure my portions are normal so I can easily maintain my weight loss.

    Best, Sheila

Another November baby chiming in! (November 18; the day after the contest ends.) There sure are a lot of birthdays here this month! LOL

Anyway, I would really love to win these plates. I struggle with portion control. Scales are too complicated and what doesn’t look like much often times IS way too much. 🙁

Also, (most of) my kitchen happens to be black and white, so these plates would look lovely with my decor. Hopefully plates like these will help my family to be healthier and fitter in 2013.

I have a bad binging problem, but I’m getting better at it, these plates would make it ten times more easier, and are much cooler than using measuring cups lol 🙂
