Meet Melany

June 7th, 2009

melyIs a a certified hypnotherapist with a private practice in Santa Monica. She made a major career switch about 3 years ago, when she decided to leave her former career as a victim’s rights and family law attorney (stressful!) in order to pursue what she loved (helping people reach their highest potential!). She works with clients of all ages (although my favorite group to work with is kids and teens). Her areas of expertise include: smoking cessation, insomnia, test anxiety, performance enhancement, confidence building, fears/phobias, habit elimination and eating disorders. She received a Juris Doctorate from USC and a BA degree from UC Berkeley. She is in a committed relationship and has no children (yet), but looks forward to being a mommy someday!

Her Hobbies:

Yoga, traveling, scrabble, meditation

Her Favorite Music:

KCRW world music

Sinful Sweet Tooth:

Any type of pastry, her mom’s poppy seed cake and ice cream

Tip of the Week

How Much Sugar is Healthy?

According to the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, it's recommended no more than 8 teaspoons/day of added sugar based on a 2,000 calories/day diet. That’s 32 grams if you’re reading labels, and about 6% of your total calories for the day.
That means:
* 32 total grams / 4 grams per teaspoon = < 8 teaspoons added sugar/day
* 1 teaspoon sugar = 1 sugar cube = 1 sugar packet
