Interval training – short, high-energy bursts of exercise interspersed with lower-intensity exercise – is fun and has loads of benefits. In addition to adding variety to your workout it also gets your endorphins flowing more quickly, which leaves you feeling amazing for the rest of the day. You burn more calories. Climbing hills (and stairs) is easier. You have better endurance, which makes you stronger and faster in every other form of cardiovascular activity.
Interval training – due to its intense qualities – yields a heightened immune response. In fact, people who exercise regularly build-up their immune system by creating a “shield” against colds and flu.
Another great benefit of interval training (and exercise, in general) is that you get younger. Yes, really. The benefits of exercise are profound and impact all aspects of your life. You sleep better. You wake up more refreshed. Your skin glows. Your digestion improves. Your attitude throughout the day becomes consistently positive. You have more ideas. You’re more creative. Overall, you’re healthy and well and more fun to be around.
The best part is that you can have all of this in as little as 30 minutes a day!

Today is National wear Red Day! Please join me in wearing red in order to raise awareness of the risks of heart disease in women, and all Americans. Did you know that heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the USA? And that 1 in 3 women die of heart disease each year? (That’s 1 per minute). It’s so sad but true. Therefore, I am dedicating my time this month to be an expert blogger for the Blog Your Heart Out campaign. In conjunction with the National Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign I am helping raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease in American women and sharing resources to help YOU prevent heart disease in yourself, in your family and amongst your friends.
So please put on something RED and make a difference today and help me spread the word about the importance of heart health! Please Click Here for more information on how you can join me this month and GO RED FOR WOMEN!

BLOG YOUR HEART OUT: 2011
Too many women die each year because they are unaware that heart disease is their #1 killer. one in three women suffers in silence, and almost one woman dies every minute of this largely preventable disease. In support of Go Red For Women and the American Heart Association, fitlosophy inc. is launching the 2nd annual BLOG YOUR HEART OUT campaign to create awareness and to encourage people to speak up against heart disease.
As part of this initiative, fitlosophy has selected 5 bloggers to SPEAK UP and share their personal stories in an effort to raise awareness through social media methods such as blogs, twitter, and facebook. I have been selected to be one of these 5 bloggers! Yippee! The rest of the BLOG YOUR HEART OUT team and I will be using our fitbooks to track our progress through the American Heart Association’s BetterU program – a free online 12-week nutrition & fitness makeover.
