I just love the Ugi ball, which stands for U Got It! It’s like a medicine ball, but even better, especially because of its “squish-factor”. Check it out, in action, here! And if you want to TRY it out, you can join Mari Winsor and me for a FREE Ugi class at Mari’s West Hollywood Studio. Get all the details here!

We are constantly battling stress and toxins in our life. Short of living in a bubble we will never be able to avoid them completely. So until our bubble-homes are built here are some simple tips to begin to detox your body, and get it back into balance.
Baja Sal Cut the salt – Many foods are already high in salt, no need to add any more.
Suave Con el Alcohol Cut back on (or nix) the alcohol and caffeinated drinks (such as coffee, tea and soda). – These can all dehydrate the body.
De Colores Eat at least one colorful meal a day. You’re busy, and on the go. Make sure that at least one meal a day is super colorful, and nutrient-dense.
¡Muévete! Move it! – Not only will moving your body help you flush out toxins, stimulate endorphins and boost your energy, as Joseph Pilates said “Movement heals”.
Are you struggling to shed the holiday (or any) weight, and get your body back into balance? Well then, it’s time to let ME help YOU!
What have you got to lose? Oh yes, that’s right…The 5, 10, 20, or more pounds that have been dragging down. Your lack of energy. Your overall malaise.
What have you got to gain? A slimmer, healthier, more vibrant, more radiant and more confident YOU!
(Additional side effects may include: improved sleep, glowing skin and a more positive attitude!) 🙂

We’re about to start the new year, when everyone jumps on the bandwagon to shed the holiday pounds, and perhaps the additional weight that they put on earlier in the year. I’m all about people exercising, whatever their motivation. What worries me, however is how people jump into all kinds of extreme workouts without the required flexibility and core strength to do those types of exercise safely. That’s where Pilates comes in as the answer to building strength, flexibility and body awareness. Because Pilates is “mind/body” exercise, (or as I prefer to refer to it, “conscious movement”), it really helps people become more “in tune” with their bodies. Being in tune with your body helps you know your limitations, strengths and weaknesses, when it comes to attempting any type of exercise, or endeavor.
I love Pilates, and I love cross training. My typical workout week includes studio cycling classes, Pilates mat & equipment workouts, ballet barre class and weight training. When I have the time I also like to throw in a Latin dance class. But what I like best of all is the body awareness that core strength that I have from my Pilates workouts that transcend to whatever workout I may do, on any given day. Not convinced? Add Pilates into your workout routine and see how it makes anything else you do better! Get started here!
Do you cross train, too? If so, let me know what workouts you enjoy doing.

It’s a Dogs’s Life! Enjoy a stroll to the dog park with your furry friend and quema (burn) 30 calorías in 10 minutos. While he plays do 5 minutos of jumping jacks and burn 40 calories. Hoof it back to your crib and you’ll burn the other 30.
Play them off! With the new Kinect Sports: Calorie Challenge from VBox Live ($4; Xbox.com) you can go cabeza-a-cabeza against a virtual treat, and burn off the item’s calorías (100-plus for the Super Soda avatar, for example). Enjoy activities such as running or boxing.
Jump like a kid! Did you know that jumping on a trampoline not only tones your legs, butt and abs but also burns 100 calorías in only 27 minutos. And, it’s super fun, of course! So go ahead, be silly and jump around!
Be a tourist! Climb the steps of the Great Wall of China (or any ancient ruin) and burn 100 calorías in only 14 minutos. No ruin in sight? Hit your local museum, where you can quemar the same number of calorías absorbing the art for 37 minutos.
Meet a pal on the mat! Join a friend in a local park for a mini-workout. Start with 5 minutes of jogging (30 calorías) then have her hold your feet for 5 minutos of ab-work (40 calorías). Finish up with 3 minutos of lunges (30 calorías). You had fun and you’re done!
These are just a few ways to get your body moving and up your metabolism. Curious what your waking day metabolic profile is (how much energy you expend in YOUR day)? Stay tuned for my NEW Metabolic Profiling Program! Coming soon!
