Maravilloso Monday- Oops! So Busy Training that I Forgot to Post My Blog

I got up so early to hit the gym that I forgot to blog today. So let me fill you in on my half marathon training. For those of you that are just tuning in, I am participating in the MORE Magazine/Fitness Magazine Half Marathon in Central Park, (yup! NYC!), on Sunday, April 25th. No, I have never ran a marathon, (of any length), before. Quite frankly, I don’t run! I grew up dancing and performing, not running and playing sports, like most children. (If you read my first post about this half marathon you’d like that I hardly even took gym class, throughout my life). That being said, this is a BIG DEAL, for me. I don’t expect to win, I don’t even expect to run/jog throughout the course. I DO EXPECT to finish, however. I started training a little over a week ago. So far, so good. Yesterday I jogged/walked for 4 miles, on the treadmill. But the end my legs were tired. Wow! But it’s all good (and good for me). Here is what I have done over the past week and a half.

Sunday, 2/28 Jogged about 2 miles
Monday, 3/1 Strength training
Tuesday, 3/2 Jogged about 2.2 miles
Wednesday, 3/3 Strength training
Thursday, 3/4 Rest
Friday, 3/5 Jogged 2.37 miles
Saturday, 3/6 Restorative Yoga
Sunday, 3/7 Jogged a 4 miles (Wow!)
Monday, 3/8 Strength training…

    Hello Ana, my husband suffers from a few food allergies and food intolerences. This includes any spices including black pepper, egg white, ricotta, nuts and chocolate. This makes it very difficult going out anywhere for dinner or buying pre-cooked foods. Restaurant food seems to be loaded with pepper, and many supermarket products have egg in them. So he tends to now do all the cooking at home. He is Italian (I am English) and has his mothers excellent flair for cooking and we manage to continue to have very good food. Simple food can still be wholesome and tasty. Last night we had a sort of Ragu sauce (you may know it as Bolognese) with potatoes instead of pasta. Other easy to cook dishes at home are risottos. Pumpkin risotto is particularly nice but also mushroom risotto, asparagus risotto etc.
