Tentación Thursday – What’s the Scoop?

A few weeks ago I was introduced to a revolutionary, drinkable, beauty product called Beauty Scoop®. This edible product may improve your skin, hair and nails, in as little as 3 weeks. In effort to bring you the entire scoop on the product I arranged for an interview with Beauty Scoop® Founding Partner, Dr. Michelle R. Yagoda.
Dr. Yagoda is a renowned facial and otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) surgeon, based in New York City. Yagoda has 18 years experience, a thriving medical practice and spa that cater to her clients, including many celebrities. She and I hit it off, immediately. (It turns out that she is a huge fan of Pilates and even studied, for many years, with one of my mentors, Bob Liekens. What a small world!) But what was most interesting for me was what inspired her to create Beauty Scoop®, the edible accessory, with co-Founder and world-renowned chemist, Eugene H. Gans. Yagoda told me that her clients often asked about maintaining healthy skin, and that eventually they would usually ask her about hair and nails. She didn’t have the answer, so she and Gans began doing extensive research about skin, hair and nails. They looked at people who ate healthy and found that most still had problems with dry skin and breaking & peeling nails. That’s when they theorized that people had a problem with nutrient absorption, even if they ate well. You see, in normal digestion it takes 4-6 hours to use the nutrients that you have ingested. You’ve gotten only a trickle of the benefits of the food. This revolutionary powder has the lipids and peptides needed by the body in an already absorbable format. So when you drink your Beauty Scoop® powder (which can be mixed with virtually anything, including alcohol*) the entire quantity of nutrients is available at once.
“Is this really true?”, I ask. Well, according to Yagoda, Gans and 10 years of research the answer is “yes”. They found that these readily absorbable peptides are, in fact, absorbed within only 30 minutes, jumpstart the body’s own natural biochemical processes and boost its own regenerative power.
“But isn’t there anything else out there like this?”, I ask. Yagoda responds that there are other nutrient drinks, such as Glowelle and Borba. But that, in essence, they are just vitamin waters. They are not building blocks. Peptides and lipids are. They are the building blocks that your body needs. On her website, www.BeautyScoop.com she even provides you with a comparison of her “competitor’s” products.
“How do I take Beauty Scoop®”, I want to know. Yagoda tells me that the product comes in individual packets and that the recommended dosage is 1 packet a day. She went on to say that 86% of users notice improvement within 21 days. Once you get the desired level you would like to achieve the maintenace schedule is 1 packet every 1-2 days. There are no side effects. Beauty Scoop®is all natural, contains no herbs, no artificial sweetners or flavors. (Beauty Scoop®has a mild vanilla flavor, from vanilla orchid).
Yagoda and Gans launched Beauty Scoop® in January of 2008. They didn’t go mainstream right away because they believed that people weren’t ready for that yet. “It wasn’t the right way to go into a big department store” says Yagoda. Therefore they started with their website, doctors offices, wellness and anti-aging centers. If you go to the U.K., however, don’t be surprised to see Beauty Scoop® in Harvey Nichols, where you can even enjoy a signature Beauty Scoop® cocktail. Wanting to get you all the inside scoop, I ask if Beauty Scoop® is only for women. Yagoda replies, “men from 55-75 really like it. It helps with splitting nails and nail ridges”. So although the male population is not their target demographic, Beauty Scoop® does have a male following.
Here’s to To Looking Good. Salud!
*Although Beauty Scoop® does not advocate drinking the product with alcohol on a daily basis. Dr Yagoda and Dr. Gans have found that alchohol actually enhances the absorption of the product.
